Hello All - Hoping someone could clear something up for me-
I have been using Claude at my business since around May, started using Claude Code in around June to produce some internal tools for the business.
I primarily used the Claude Code plugin inside of Cursor IDE, with my company based seat logged into the plugin via Oauth (NO API USAGE) to produce the majority of my work, and only actually started using the Claude Code desktop app in the last week or two with the 5.5 release. During the whole time I used the Cursor plugin, my Claude Code overview panel showed 34m tokens used for lifetime, which I always thought seemed really low as I had been using it all the time.
I even noticed my lifetime token usage DROPPED to like 29m displayed one day - I just chalked it up to a bug and moved on.
After one of the more recent desktop client updates, my lifetime token usage in Claude Code now shows around 9.4 billion tokens used. Its like everything I have ever done has caught up usage wise in the app? I don't believe my account is compromised or anything like that, I keep an eye on the projected totals in our billing almost every day to ensure nothing strange is going on & its been the same every single time, but I just wondered if anyone else had seen something similar? Perhaps its just catching me off guard actually being able to see me burn a billion tokens in a day at times when I could never see it before where it was coming from the Cursor plugin and now the Desktop client can display that usage that it couldn't before? Thats my best guess.
Any answers appreciated!
