It started cuz I wanted to add realistic grain, bloom, & halation to my photos and it spiraled from there. My previous workflow I had to use 3 different apps, and now i only need CHRO-MA-SMITH. • Lightroom to find the best photo and edit it • Dehancer to add grain bloom, and halation • Darkroom to add borders I also needed to learn how to use AI for work, so used it to develop my skills. Most of it was built with Claude Code, and the rest with Codex, Claude Design, Gemini, and Google Stitch. • the first phase was to get the bloom and halation to match the other apps, and required lots of back and forth with Claude Code where it would fix one color and in the process break another, until i was happy with the output on different images, colors, intensity, etc. • A lot of time was spent on the design of the app, I initially designed the entire look of the app using Claude Design, by providing it with references and detailed instructions and i was very impressed with the work. • The goal was to make it look pretty and functional, while trying to avoid ai-slop accusations lol, or making it look like the rest of the photo editing apps out there. • However that ended up being a complete waste of time cuz Claude Code for one reason or another no matter which model i tried couldn't translate that those designs into actual code • So i tried to redo the designs from scratch, this time directly in Claude Code (and this is when i learned about the concept of a http://Design.md file even though Claude Design created one... allegedly). • First i took a copy of an Apple design md file and asked for it to use it as a reference /requirement. • I then realized the Apple design was too generic and boring, so i went to research about different design languages and aesthetics and settled on Swiss design. Google Stitch was helpful in creating different animations, toggles, components etc for me to test out my ideas quickly without wasting tokens • I then took those references plus other references and made Claude update the design md file and from there redesign the entire app. I then wasted more time on designing a webpage with every imaginable animation and transition (for fun?). It was designed for Intel Macs, but is available on MacOS, Windows, iOS, and Web [Mobile and Desktop]. It's open source, and would love for you to test it out and let me know what you think. All constructive feedback is appreciated.
